“It only effects those with existing health conditions” No,…

“It only effects those with existing health conditions” No, it doesn’t. Even those who are healthy to a good standard can potentially lose their lives. RIP Alec. ❤️ #wearyourmask

It is with great sadness that Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirm a serving firefighter has died. Alec Elwell, a Crew Manager, had been receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19 and tragically passed away yesterday. Alec, aged 48, transferred to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service from the London Fire Brigade in October 2005. He served at a number of stations across the county during his career, most recently at Hanley Fire Station. Chief Fire Officer Becci Bryant, said: “We are devastated and shocked at the sudden loss of our colleague. Alec will be greatly missed by his many friends across the Service, especially those who were privileged to work directly alongside him. “Alec was popular, highly respected, and a dedicated firefighter, who was committed to making a difference to the communities he served. “The thoughts of everyone at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are with Alec’s partner Kirsty, children Ellisia and Theo, and his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”

Some job

😳

“While responding to this incident, I began discussing the information we were receiving, picturing a bus hanging off the edge. We had two scenes here where Rescue 3 began securing the bus up-top while Engine 43 made their way around to begin treatment of the civilian patients. Currently we are making sure all the fuel and other hazardous materials within the vehicle is secured until the bus can be pulled onto the roadway,” says FDNY Acting Battalion Chief Steven Moore FDNY Deputy Chief Paul Hopper who oversaw emergency medical treatment and transport at this incident adds, “We assessed and treated a total of eight patients from this accident. The bus fell approximately 50 feet onto the access road. The patients suffered injuries consistent with a fall from such a great height.”

🚒 Crews, quite literally, had a #rubbish weekend after attending a bin lorry #fire on the A600 near #Chicksands.
🔥 #TeamBedsFire had to use cutting equipment to gain access through the side of vehicle & remove all the rubbish by hand.

Not your average animal rescue

😂

🔥06/01/2021 .
Yesterday evening fire crews from Corby were called to a fire in living room caused by a reptile mat – one of the occupants couldn’t wait to be rescued and jumped to safety to hitch a ride out!! 👨🏼‍🚒 Watch Commander Lane commented
“This job has some highs and lows, but this was the funniest thing I’ve seen so far” 💦 The fire was extinguished quickly and no other resident required rescuing .
