42 years! Bloody great job Mick. All the best in…

❤️

After a 42 year career with us, Mick Whitby has hung up his fire uniform for the last time and retired. He joined as an on-call firefighter in Swaffham, following in his dad’s footsteps, and became watch manager. Mick has also held full-time roles as a hydrant inspector, water officer, risk manager and latterly operational support officer at King’s Lynn. Mick has made an amazing contribution to keeping Norfolk’s communities and businesses safe and received a chief fire officer’s commendation in 2019 for a particularly heroic rescue. Good luck in whatever’s next Mick, we will really miss you.

We absolutely love this! What an incredible thing to do.

Honorary Board

Just over two years ago a conversation was had between the OIC and Station Personnel about how nice it would be to have something on Station to remember all past serving Firefighters in Dartmouth.

A few ideas were discussed and it was decided that an Honorary Board would be made with each person represented by a brass Breathing Apparatus tally. Each one would have the Name, PR number and Time in and Time out engraved on them.

We approached a local business ‘Dart Engraving’ owned by Karren Parkin. She had lots of ideas and the skill to put them together. Many hours were spent by Karren making sure it was perfect.

We went to HR/Personnel and asked how far back their records… More

Good ol’ Baz.

🦊😂

What does the fox say? Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to ask when helping our colleagues at the RSPCA to rescue a stranded fox on the Thames before the fox ran off. Remember, always contact the RSPCA in the first instance if you see an animal in distress. We’ll be happy to help if they need our specialist equipment and skills http://orlo.uk/56aBh

Rest in peace Paul.

❤️

We’re devastated to announce the loss of Braintree Fire Station’s Watch Manager Paul Burder, who died yesterday, following a long terminal illness. Paul was a kind, well-respected and popular colleague and he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with everyone who knew him.
